THE DOCTRINE OF GOD 

 

Men are not capable of discovering the truth about God within themselves. Man is finite God is infinite.  if we are going to understand anything about God, God himself is going to have to reveal himself to us. 

1 cor 2:14 

But the natural man receiveth, not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

 

When I speak of Truth I'm not talking about things of the Earth, like one plus one equals two, I'm talking about spiritual truth. 

 

If we are going to learn who God is we need to look to the Bible. God has revealed himself to us in the New Testament through his son Jesus Christ.   HEB 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

 

 To know him is to love him, we need to study the word of God to make it easier for us to trust him, to believe him, and to love him. 

 

 The Old Testament uses the name I am that I am to describe God's nature. That means becoming one, or you can say I am everything you will ever need.

 

The Old Testament has multiple names to describe God's nature, character, and power. 

 

 Although the Old Testament gives us a great understanding of God, you don't get the full revelation until you get to the New Testament.

 

We see God's power judgment and Wrath in the Old Testament. In the New Testament through Jesus Christ, we see his love and his grace more clearly. 

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 

 In the New Testament Jesus refers to God as his Heavenly Father. We come to know him as our father as well.

Jesus tells us to call Him Abba Father. Calling him father is intimate indicating that we are now his children and we can have a loving father and son relationship with him 

 

Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

 

God is Spirit those who seek to worship God must worship in spirit and in truth. God is the ruler of the entire universe he rules Heaven and Earth he is all-powerful no one can stand against him. 

 

God is also eternal; He lives outside of time. We can believe in the word of God, especially the teachings of Christ who has revealed the father to us. As we learn and grow our faith hope and love will get stronger. 

 

The engrafted word is able to save our souls.
