Spotify’s new SongDNA feature is slowly rolling out. It helps let artists frame the story around their music. It’s currently releasing through Spotify for Artists Preview, inside the mobile app, and it gives anyone with Premium the ability to peel back the surface of a track. It shows the real network of collaborators, influences, samples, and decisions that shape a song before the drop.

If you’re an Admin or Editor on an artist team, have at least ten monthly listeners, and you’re running the latest version of the app, SongDNA shows up right inside Now Playing. Scroll down, tap once, and the track opens up. You can also reach it from the three‑dot menu on any song, or from the artist profile itself. That’s where the entire map of your collaborators becomes visible. It feels like the first time Spotify has given artists something that resembles evolving liner notes.

The control side sits on the desktop inside Spotify for Artists. Each track now has a SongDNA Beta tab. In this place, the components of the record are exposed: who contributed, what was sampled, what was interpolated, and where that information originated. For the first time, artists can shape how that narrative appears. You can hide or show third‑party contributors, decide which WhoSampled connections surface, and if your profile clears five thousand monthly listeners, you can add or remove contributors delivered by your label. Main artists, features, and remixers stay locked, but everything else becomes editable. Any changes you make appear in the app within forty‑eight hours.

This doesn’t replace the official credits section. Some artists in the Preview won’t see SongDNA on their own tracks yet, but they can still explore other artists’ work.

SongDNA gives artists a measure of authorship over the narrative surrounding their music. It gives fans a reason to stay with a track a little longer.
