Reconstructing Your Faith

Sometimes, I think we forget we're created. 

Not creatives. Not creative. Created. We were created, meaning we have a CREATOR. Maybe it's the fact that while created in HIS image, and losing that through the fall (sin) and being able to get it back through CHRIST, and all of these gifts and talents and even power our CREATOR bestows upon us, we forget that our footing isn't equal, which means there are certain things we're not privy to and won't be. The creature answers to the CREATOR, not the other way around. 

And with all that we owe GOD, it's sobering to remember that GOD owes us nothing: HE does what HE does for us because HE chooses. When YOU're sovereign and surpass time and space, as we know it, YOU've got it like that. 

Much has been made, as of late, of a "deconstructing" of faith; of the Faith: a tearing down and stripping away in a demand to know, to understand, to have the supernatural made plain to finite minds of limited means to fully grasp knowledge only an omniscient GOD should have access to. This 'deconstruction' usually stems from some unresolved issue that was planted by the enemy and left in sleep mode by its intended target; this issue fed and grew unaware in seemingly unrelated issues, but all the while, taking deeper root and tainting perspective as it became the preferred filter of the intended's flesh (when an issue is present, that's how you see the world - Titus 1:15-16). Remember: it only takes a little leaven to ruin the entire thing. 

Attempting to demand answers and a revealing of details and specifics from a GOD WHO's ways are past finding out (Rom.11:33) is not some new trend. Job's friends attempted to deconstruct his Faith for him, having nowhere near the level of intimacy or relationship Job had with GOD, but not allowing that to keep them from offering their less than expert opinion on Job's dilemma. Solomon, likewise, the wisest man that ever lived, found himself "deconstructing" his Faith, asking questions about GOD's will and ways in the face of social ills and personal angst, only to resolve that at the end of the day, the whole duty of man is to serve a GOD he may not always understand (read Ecclesiastes...all of it). That's where trust and faith come in. Just saying. 

So, the point of this post, you ask? Well, it's not to simply diagnose the issue, nor is it to throw salt or gasoline on an open wound or currently blazing flame. We offer a solution: when our Faith is being attacked (which is certain to happen 1 Pet.4:12), the goal isn't to tear it down and blame GOD for what we don't understand about HIM or the things going on around us or in us; the answer is to, as the psalmist did in the 77th division (vs 10), remember the years of the right hand of the LORD...to intentionally recall the good things GOD has already done. 

It makes no sense to stop living for JESUS, to stop serving GOD, based on what we don't know. Read that, again. Why? Because I should be able to build a defense of my faith based on what I do know about GOD: every breath that I've ever taken, every healing I've ever experienced, every blessing, every open door, every opportunity, even the correction; if I can stop counting the things that I know GOD has already done in my life, in accordance to HIS WORD, I'm either counting wrong or not counting, at all. Distance will always make things seem further away; when we have questions for GOD, they're not best asked at arm's length. We need to get closer (Psa.73). 

When we're faced with things we don't understand or that don't make sense to us, naturally, the response shouldn't be to throw away everything we know to be true in favor of the lie (yep, it's satan talking, at this point, often starring as our voice). Instead of destroying my Faith-based on my own limited insight or impatience, I need to fight fire with fire by remembering what GOD has already done for me that absolutely no one else could: don't deconstruct...reconstruct. There are times our Faith requires reinforcing, and we do that, overcome, by the blood of the LAMB and the word of our testimony. GOD has been too faithful for us to elect to no longer be. Remember, rejoice, rebuild.
