On Friday, July 11th, His Hop Nation, in collaboration with NBA and pro team chaplains, Juvenile Detention Center & Straight Ahead ministries, brought a powerful wave of hope and inspiration to the youth at the Las Vegas Juvenile Detention Center during our Summer League Youth Ministry event.

We arrived early to set up, and by 8:00 a.m., the energy was already building. With equipment checked and the sound dialed in, Mr. His Hop filled the space with uplifting beats as the young men and women filed in with anticipation.

At 9:00 a.m., the day officially kicked off with warm welcomes and a heartfelt opening prayer from Damon and the facility chaplain. From there, the atmosphere quickly turned electric as students jumped into a Free Throw Contest and 3-Point Shootout, competing for prizes and sharing laughs with chaplains from teams across the NBA.

Skill the Lightmare brought the presence of God through dynamic worship sets that filled the room with truth, hope, and love. The students sang, clapped, and received.

A special highlight was the NBA Chapel session, where a guest professional basketball player courageously shared his testimony. His story of transformation gripped hearts and reminded the youth that their past doesn’t have to define their future—God can redeem any story.

We were also blessed to have Quincy, our newest His Hop Nation team member, join us. Her willingness to serve and her spirit of intercession were undeniable. As she boldly prayed over the students, many were visibly moved, including the chaplains who witnessed her anointing in action.

Later in the morning, students and chaplains teamed up for an intense and fun-filled Knockout Game, followed by a powerful and convicting message from Che Scott, chaplain of the Miami Heat. His words spoke directly to the hearts of the young people, reinforcing the truth that their lives have purpose and destiny.

The morning ended in a moment of unity and grace as the chaplains and NBA guest prayed over the youth, declaring hope, healing, and transformation. Though the event officially wrapped up at 11:00 a.m., we know that the spiritual seeds planted will continue to grow long after the day ended.
