Most of us have heard the song from Tasha Cobbs-Leanord “For Your Glory” right? Okay good! For those who know or don’t know there is a line in the song that says “I want to be where you are, I gotta be where you are!” Moses said in Exodus 33:15 “If your presence does not go [with me] do not lead us up from here. For us believers or even those who may be unsaved it can be easy to say “I want to go where God wants me to go”, “I know this is God” or “God wants me to do this”. It’s easier to say these things because we can believe whatever we think is good God will approve of when that is far from the truth!

In Isaiah 55:8 the Lord says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts Nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord”. Before we get to Moving with God we have to know that He’s the one telling us to move. 

I know a couple questions might come to mind. What does the Lord desire and require of me? How do I know that I’m hearing God? Is this my voice or God’s voice? Simply put, the Lord desires and requires our obedience! Also, to know His voice is to know His word and in order to move with Him you have to know that it is Him speaking to you! Your secret place with the Lord is so vital to your walk! This is what a relationship is all about! You will get to know your Father God because you’re spending time with Him! Naturally, in a relationship you learn more about the person by the time you spend with them. Their traits, character, thoughts etc. 

To get a general idea of how God thinks especially as it pertains to moving lets look at Jeremiah 29:11-13 (AMP). ^“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ¹² Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. ¹³ Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Once you get to this place you will find that even when it seems  hard, scary, or difficult to move with God His grace will show up to help you like never before because you made the choice to seek and search for Him with all your heart! 

I’ve heard Pastor Mike Todd say in the past that the things God asks us to do aren’t easy but they are simple. God is trying to bring you out of what you know and that alone will not be easy. We were born into sin and shaped in iniquity so coming to the Lord and dying to yourself and your way of thinking will never be easy but it is simple and it will get easier by the closer you get to God in relationship! 

There is beauty in simplicity and it is such a simple act of obedience and faith when you move when the Lord asks you to. Always remember no matter how scary or difficult the move may seem remember what the Lord says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 ⁹ but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.

1. How do I know that I am hearing from God 
2. How do I position myself to hear from God and move at His command
