“Changing my name from BigBreeze wasn’t my idea; it was God’s. The streets gave me the name Breeze. The world came to know me as BigBreeze. But God kept calling me by something different: Markel.

God used BigBreeze for a season. Through that name, He opened doors I never imagined and allowed me to accomplish things I only dreamed about. But while I celebrated what He was doing around me, He also started showing me what still needed to die within me.

I got tired of living with one foot in and one foot out. I got tired of choosing comfort over obedience. I’ve hurt people. I hurt myself. And I realized I couldn’t keep asking God to take me higher while holding on to the version of me He was asking me to leave behind.

Through every mistake and every lesson, I learned that following Jesus is deeper than saying you’re a believer. It’s a daily decision to surrender. That’s my why.

Walking in the fullness of Markel is my way of saying yes to everything God is calling me to be. Not because I’ve got it all together, but because I’m done pretending I do. My prayer is that my life reminds people that we all struggle, we all need God’s grace, and the only One who’s ever been perfect is Jesus.

August 14 isn’t just the first release under a new name. It’s the first step of walking in obedience. Welcome to the journey.”
