A Father's Day Gift That Gave Me Back My Childhood

Some stories never really leave us.

I grew up in a chaotic and abusive home. My mother struggled with mental illness, and as a young boy, I often felt alone and unsafe. When reality became too painful, I escaped to the only place no one could take from me—my imagination.

That's where Reggie, Freddy, and Fuzzles were born.

They weren't just characters. They were my friends. My companions. My refuge.

I spent countless hours drawing them, creating adventures, building entire worlds, and imagining myself walking through the neighborhoods I sketched on paper. Those stories helped me survive some of the darkest moments of my childhood.

In kindergarten, I even turned their adventures into little handmade books with my friends. To me, they were treasures. They represented hope, creativity, and a future beyond the struggles I faced at home.

But those treasures didn't last.

My grandmother threw the books away once, though I was fortunate enough to rescue them. Years later, after moving back to Las Vegas to live with my father, my stepmother found them and made sure they were gone for good.

Just like that, a piece of my childhood disappeared.

Or so I thought.

Many years passed. I grew up, got married, and started a family of my own. One day, I shared the story of Reggie, Freddy, and Fuzzles with my wife. I told her about the characters, the books, and how much they had meant to me as a child.

What I didn't know was that she was listening more closely than I realized.

This Father's Day, she surprised me with a gift that left me speechless.

She brought my childhood dream back to life.

Using the memories I had shared, she recreated my beloved characters and turned them into a published book. A dream I thought had been lost forever was suddenly in my hands again.

The book is called **The Lost Dreamers**.

When I opened it, I wasn't just looking at a children's story. I was holding a piece of my past. A reminder that even the dreams buried by pain, loss, and time can find their way back to us.

I believe many of us have "lost dreamers" hidden somewhere inside our hearts—dreams we abandoned, talents we forgot, stories we stopped telling, or parts of ourselves we thought were gone forever.

This book is more than a story about three characters. It's a story about hope, healing, imagination, and second chances.

If you've ever lost something precious and wished you could get it back, I think you'll connect with this book.

And if you have children or grandchildren, I hope you'll share it with them as well. Because sometimes the stories we tell today can help someone else hold on to their dreams tomorrow.

Thank you for taking a moment to read my story.

And thank you for supporting *The Lost Dreamers*.

Sometimes a book is more than a book.

Sometimes it's a miracle that finally found its way home.
