For indie artists, the road is long, and you wonder if anyone notices. UK Christian rapper DC3 nearly quit music two years ago. Now, he has proof that consistency pays off.

A viral video shows a chance encounter between himself and hip-hop icon J. Cole. J. Cole recognizes him.

“I’ve seen your videos,” Cole said, pointing out DC3’s content style. The hip-hop star noted how DC3 opens his clips with quick snapshot hooks before diving into the music.

“Your s*** is tough, bro,” J. Cole told him, followed by a warm embrace.

DC3 used the viral moment to announce a show. He’s taking the stage for his debut headline show at Hoxton Hall in London on December 7. The rapper shared a takeaway for independent creators everywhere.

“I nearly quit 2 years ago. I’m posting this as a reminder to never stop pushing your art out there. You never know who may be watching!” he wrote on Instagram.
