Content creator Dominique stepped onto the red carpet at the 2026 Dove Awards to answer a few questions. During her appearance, she broke down common misconceptions about the genre and explained why the music resonates so strongly with listeners.
Addressing critics who dismiss faith-based rap, Dominique pointed to a lack of genuine exploration.
“I think that people say Christian rap is corny, but it’s not, ’cause they don’t actually take time to listen to good stuff,” Dominique explained.
Connecting Through Testimonies
Dominique emphasized that while traditional worship and praise genres dominate much of Christian music, hip-hop fills a distinct niche. Storytelling and testimony allow artists to connect with audiences on a unique level.
“The coolest thing about Christian rap to me is how testimonial the songs are,” Dominique shared. “And I think that it creates a space in Christian music that isn’t seen as much…being able to share testimonies through music like this can connect to people in ways that other kinds of music can’t, and it’s just dope.”
