The landscape of Christian hip-hop and R&B had a major addition. R&B singer, rapper, and genre-blending innovator Ryan Trey has officially made his transition into the faith space with the release of his debut Christian/gospel project, FAITH OVER FAME.

Known previously for breakout hits like “Mutual Butterflies” and his acclaimed 2017 project Eight24, which earned co-signs from LeBron James, DJ Khaled, and Bryson Tiller, Trey is now using his gifts for Jesus.

Faith Journey

FAITH OVER FAME is far from a standard solo venture. The 17-track album boasts an impressive roster of heavy-hitting features from across CHH and gospel. This includes Lecrae, Alex Jean, Sam Rivera, HILLARI, LIN D, Deca OTA, and more.

Throughout the project, Trey guides listeners on an emotional and spiritual narrative detailing the friction between worldly pressure and divine conviction. Anchored by themes of surrender and reliance on a higher power, the album serves as a transparent look at maintaining clarity amid the distractions of the music industry.

Standout Tracks: “Ride With Me” and “Need You”

The album’s focus track, “RIDE WITH ME,” puts Trey’s rap prowess on full display. Delivering a reflection on his spiritual journey, Trey looks back at his past life and the constant search for unconditional love that ultimately led him to God.

Meanwhile, the summer-ready standout “NEED YOU” pairs Trey with Lecrae.

A New Chapter for a Proven Artist

With past collaborations alongside artists like Babyface Ray and Jordan Ward, plus major tour runs with Mariah The Scientist, Trey has always proven his musical versatility. Now, by fusing contemporary R&B textures with gospel, he is bringing a fresh emotional and spiritual weight to his catalog.

FAITH OVER FAME is available now on all major streaming platforms.
