Fresh off a major win and wrapping up a massive run, indie tribe gave an entertaining interview at the 2026 Dove Awards, covering everything from Waffle House runs to ancient architecture, and their immediate future.
“Beating the Machine”
Reflecting on their recent momentum, touring milestones, and awards success, the collective emphasized that their victories are a testament to doing things independently. Rather than seeing success through competition against major labels, they see it as proof that artists can forge their own lane.
“As independent artists, we beat the major labels… and not in a competitive way,” DJ Mykael V said. “It’s more of like…it just shows us that we’re able to pierce through some of the either political or just like choices, and we’re just very grateful that we even have the opportunity to be not only nominated, but also win.”
Group Debates: From Pyramids to Physical Bibles
The interview went off into passionate tangents. Mykael talked about physical Bibles over Bible App.
“Because the powers that be when they come down and they shut down our devices… how do you know they’re not actively changing stuff in the Bible right now?”
Mogli the Iceburg ranted about the Egyptian pyramids.
“The pyramids are not tombs. They are power stations. The tombs are adorned with art on the walls. They are aligned with the astrological signs… they are resonance chambers; they’re not tombs.”
Looking Ahead to 2027
indie tribe made it clear that slowing down is not happening. The crew teased major solo projects, expansive touring schedules, and the return of Holy Smoke, of course.
Torey D’Shaun, Jon Keith, nobigdyl., and Mogli all have solo projects on the way. Mogli is especially making moves with his band bødyWash.
Then they broke out into “ROB HELL,” because of course they did.
