Christian Rap Album of the Year winner Hulvey caught up with Rapzilla.com on the red carpet at the 2026 Dove Awards.

Hulvey weighed in on everyday debates, preferring text over calls, physical Bibles over apps, and Waffle House over Cracker Barrel. When asked about his all-time top three Christian rap heavyweights, he pointed straight to his former Reach Records labelmates: Lecrae, Trip Lee, and Andy Mineo.

While looking back at his own catalog, he pointed to “Ready or Not” when asked about his worst song. He also said Jack Johnson’s acoustic classic “Upside Down” is the greatest song of all time.

Growing the Tour and Reaching New Ears

Beyond the talk, Hulvey opened up about what is truly driving him professionally. When asked about his next big milestones, he emphasized the growth of his live shows and the unique impact of introducing listeners to CHH for the first time.

“I think for me, practically speaking, just the touring, just to continue to grow the touring and reach more people, man,” Hulvey shared. “A lot of my fans [tell me] I was the first time they ever heard Christian rap, and I want that for more people too, to have their first touchpoints with the Lord through the music.”

The Ultimate “Nerdy” Rant: Spider-Man

When asked what he is genuinely nerdy about, Hulvey didn’t hesitate: Spider-Man. Launching into a quick-fire breakdown, he argued that Spider-Man: Brand New Day redefined the genre through its visual artistry and storytelling, while doubling down on Tom Holland’s run.

“I think that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is probably the best Spider-Man yet,” Hulvey said. “The aesthetics were crazy, the color grading, the storyline…goated.”

Passing the Mic: Supporting the Culture

Hulvey closed out the conversation by urging fans to stay tuned and support the broader artist community. He mentioned Kijan Boone, Aha Gazelle’s upcoming music, and underground names like kappa!

“Tap into the space, try to reshare as much as you can, repost; we all need it,” Hulvey encouraged. “And buy tickets!”
