Who is Lady Audri?
I want to show who God is without a religious platform or mask, but you know, in an adult way.
Tell me about the verses you performed on Bless the Mic.
It was a song called “IOU.” So I’ve gone through a couple of name changes. This song is pretty much like a rebranding of who I am because I’ve been putting music out for years. Previously, I focused more on rap rather than leaning into my singing. I haven’t put music out for four years, so for four years, I’ve pretty much been playing in the background, being an A&R, won my first Grammy in 2023 as an engineer. Being behind the scenes, it’s like now I kind of understand how to push myself for it, and a lot of stuff I’m still learning. But being behind the scenes kind of taught me marketing, just different stuff like that. Everything that surrounds an artist. Now I’m learning to do that for myself, which is something that I struggled with previously…still struggle with a little bit. It’s a work in progress.
How do you approach rapping in this setting of a live mic and cameras?
I just try to do my best. I try to pretend, and I mean, it’s really not pretending because it’s ministry for me. Just singing my heart out is really how I approach it. Usually I would be nervous, but it’s like “Audri, just do your thing.” This is what God called you to do and, you can’t be afraid to do it.
What is one of your favorite freestyles that you’ve ever heard?
Maybe something from Lil Wayne. I used to listen to Lil Wayne when I was younger. I enjoyed his freestyles a lot.
What’s the biggest thing you’re going to accomplish in 2026?
Being consistent as an artist. Because like I said previously, it was something I struggled with because I’m trying to find my image, constantly revamping or reinventing myself. It’s like, “Okay, am I going to be a bad church girl or am I going to be traditional or am I going to rap, and am I going to sing?” Now I’m kind of finding my niche. So I would say just being consistent, even if the numbers don’t come. I feel if I can be consistent for the rest of the year it’s okay. I’m growing. So that would be my biggest accomplishment for me.
