KDNS Interview: Singer-songwriter KDNS refused to rely on industry gimmicks to capture listener attention. Instead, the Connecticut native focused purely on bridging the gap between mainstream musical spaces and his faith.
“KDNS is a singer-songwriter from Connecticut trying to bridge the gap between faith and mainstream music,” the artist stated. “I want listeners to identify with an artist who is unapologetically walking and growing through life with their music. No gimmicks, just love and art.”
That commitment to growth directly birthed his latest single, “Blame Game.” To bring the song to life, KDNS paired up with a powerhouse vocalist he long admired.
“Briana Maia is an artist who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time now,” KDNS shared. “She brings such a high level of excellence to everything she does. This record could not have happened without her.”
Together, the duo purposely avoided standard songwriting tropes to deliver a refreshing perspective on romantic conflict.
“When myself and Briana sat down to put this record together, we wanted to break the mold of the typical R&B duet and give listeners something to think about and resonate with,” KDNS explained. “Love and relationships are something that requires a commitment to accountability. The concept resonated strongly with us both as we aspire to healthy and long-lasting relationships in our personal lives.”
Lowering the Ego and Looking in the Mirror
Instead of pointing fingers, “Blame Game” forced listeners to evaluate their own internal flaws. KDNS designed the record to spark deep, necessary conversations among couples navigating rough patches.
“The heart of this song is for people to truly take a look in the mirror and realize that putting down your ego is one of the most beautiful things you can do,” he emphasized. “Hopefully we can spark conversations about how to find light in the midst of disagreement. We all struggle with ourselves, even when we don’t notice.”
The process of writing about guilt, self-reflection, and the terrifying fear of losing a partner provided a major creative epiphany for the artist. He realized that the most compelling material lay directly within his own reality.
“Writing this record really helped me realize that the best lyrics and the best concepts are the ones that truly come from personal experience,” KDNS reflected. “Sometimes we push to create things that people can identify with, and forget that we don’t have to look very far. WE are the most relatable thing about us.”
Millions of Streams and the Best Work Yet
Despite being early in his professional journey, KDNS already secured major media placements and accumulated millions of digital streams. He credited his steady rise entirely to God and promised a major elevation in his upcoming catalog.
“God has not ceased to amaze me with all the amazing things that have been happening,” the artist concluded. “For fans and listeners truly tapped in, I think you’re about to hear the most vulnerable, creative version of KDNS, and what I consider to be my best work yet. Thank you, guys, for taking this ride with me! May our family continue to grow.”
