Vic Lucas Interview: Rising artist Vic Lucas is refusing to be boxed in. With millions of streams, viral hits in “Thank You, God,” “Yeshua,” and a Billboard Christian AC charting single with “Enough,” Lucas is quickly gaining steam.

He recently spoke to Jubileecast, and we combed through to see what we could learn. 

Vic’s sound is a distinct blend of Afrobeat, Gospel, and hip-hop. It is a direct reflection of his unique upbringing.

“I see myself as an Afro-spiritual artist with a global perspective,” Lucas said. “I grew up between Nigeria, South Africa, and America, so my sound naturally carries all of those worlds. Afrobeat is the heartbeat, hip-hop taught me honesty, and faith gives everything meaning.”

According to Lucas, Nigeria provided his rhythm, faith, and emotional expression. South Africa gave him musical freedom and soul, while America improved his songwriting and taught him how to communicate globally.

“Because of that mix, I never felt boxed into one sound or one audience,” he explained. “I make music for people who come from different walks of life but still feel the same human emotions: longing, hope, heartbreak, faith, purpose.”

Unashamed

That diverse background anchors his latest single, “Joy Is Coming.” The track balances deep vulnerability with an uplifting, hopeful chorus. The inspiration came straight from Lucas’s own low points.

“A lot of the song came from seasons where I felt emotionally exhausted but still trying to hold onto faith,” Lucas shared. “I know what it feels like to smile publicly while privately fighting disappointment, loneliness, confusion, even silence from God.”

For Lucas, writing the song was a form of self-therapy.

“Hope isn’t always loud,” he said. “Sometimes it’s just choosing to believe tomorrow can still be beautiful. ‘Joy Is Coming’ was me reminding myself of that before I ever sang it to anyone else.”

Tracks like “Enough” and “Thank You, God” do not shy away from these battles. Lucas believes that transparency is exactly what listeners need today.

“Faith becomes real when it survives tension,” Lucas said. “I’m not interested in pretending life is perfect. Some of the deepest moments in my relationship with God came from questions, frustration, weakness, and uncertainty.”

He added, “I think people are tired of performances. They want honesty. So when I talk about pain, I’m not glorifying suffering; I’m showing people that God can still meet you there. That’s where a lot of healing actually starts.”

Managing Momentum and Looking Forward

At the time, Vic Lucas was blowing up on social media. Since this interview, he’s grown even further. Most notably, he featured on a remix of Forrest Frank’s “JESUS IS ALIVE” with Limoblaze.

“Success is beautiful, but if you lose your peace or your purpose chasing it, it becomes empty very quickly,” Lucas said. “For me, staying grounded means protecting my relationship with God, protecting my creativity, and staying connected to real life. I never want to become so focused on numbers that I stop making honest music. The goal isn’t just visibility, it’s impact.”

With his momentum at an all-time high, Lucas is already writing his next chapter.

He is currently finishing up his next album. He described it as his most intentional and emotionally deep work yet. It maintains the high-energy Afrobeat sound his listeners know him by. There are also plans for an international tour in the works.

“My vision has always been global,” Vic Lucas said. “I want these songs to feel like experiences people can step into, not just records they stream. I’m building something bigger than songs. I want Vic Lucas to feel like a movement where spirituality, culture, vulnerability, and excellence can exist together.”

He continued, “Personally, I’m becoming more fearless about saying what I truly believe and creating from a deeper place,” he says. “I think people are about to see the clearest version of who I am yet.”
