Acts 12:18–25 (NKJV)

Power does not protect a person from God — humility does.

In Acts 12:18–25, we witness a dramatic contrast:

Peter is delivered from prison by the power of God, while King Herod is struck down for accepting glory that belonged to God alone.

Herod Agrippa I sat on a throne, clothed in royal garments, receiving praise from the people as though he were divine. The crowd shouted, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” — and Herod did nothing to stop it. That silence sealed his fate.

Scripture tells us an angel of the Lord struck him, and he died. Immediately after this account, Luke records a powerful statement:

“But the word of God grew and multiplied.” (Acts 12:24)

This chapter reminds us that:
