The Remission of Sin through Jesus' Sacrifice

  1. Understanding Remission vs. Forgiveness

  - Remission of Sin : Remission refers to the removal or cancellation of the penalty of sin. Through Jesus, we receive complete liberation from the consequences of sin. Remission implies that God not only forgives but also removes our sins.

    - Scripture : "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:28, KJV)

  - Forgiveness of Sin: Forgiveness is the act of pardoning an offender. In forgiveness, God chooses not to hold our sins against us, but remission takes it a step further by freeing us from the penalties and power of those sins.

    - Scripture: "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7, KJV)

2. Benefits of Jesus’ Sacrifice : A Complete Pardon and New Life

  - Freedom from Guilt and Condemnation: Through remission, the guilt associated with our sins is lifted. We are no longer condemned but fully pardoned in Christ.

    - Scripture: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1, KJV)

  - Restored Relationship with God: Jesus’ sacrifice bridged the gap sin created between humanity and God, restoring our fellowship with Him.

    - Scripture: "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13, KJV)

3. Our Response to His Sacrifice

  - Gratitude and Worship: We are called to approach God with gratitude, knowing we have received a pardon we could never earn on our own.

    - Scripture: "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works." (Psalm 9:1, KJV)

  - Living a Life of Holiness: Since Jesus paid the price, our lives should reflect His holiness and love.

    - Scripture: "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation." (1 Peter 1:15, KJV)

 Discussion and Reflection Questions

  - Group Discussion:

    1. What’s the difference between remission and forgiveness, and why does it matter?

    2. How does understanding that our sins are completely removed through remission change our view of God’s love?

  - Self-Reflection:
    1. Are there any sins I still feel guilty about, even though I know I’ve been forgiven?

    2. How can I live in a way that shows gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice?

  - Application:

    1. In what ways can I share the message of remission and forgiveness with others this week?

    2. How can I draw closer to God, knowing that my sins are removed, and my relationship with Him is restored?

This teaching can empower The  His Hop Nation to grasp the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice and embrace the freedom He offers through remission.
