Romans 7:18-19
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.
We never have to teach a child how to be bad, because it's already in them. Children grow up to be adults who become professional sinners.
We try to be good & we fail, we try not to be bad & we fail. Only the blood of Jesus can make us good so that we can have the power to overcome evil & to be good, so we can do good.
The good we do then is because Christ lives in us & does the good through us, which means we can never boast in the good we do. So be humble, because outside of God, there's nothing good about us.
